Are you struggling to sell your digital products online?
Hey friend! If you’re looking to create and launch your first (or next) digital product using AI, you’re in the right place. Over the past weeks, we covered the 5 steps to build and launch your digital product and how to create a digital product using AI. Today, we'll dive deeper into the MOST important (but sometimes overlooked step): launching your digital product. This guide will help you master your launch plan to sell digital products online effectively.
Why Building a Launch Plan is Important
The main difference between a successful product launch and a failed launch lies in the power of a launch plan. A well-structured launch plan is crucial for several reasons:
Maximizes Exposure: Ensures your product reaches a wider audience. By meticulously planning your launch, you can utilize various platforms and strategies to get your product in front of as many potential customers as possible. I always suggest a multi-channel approach for your launches that include various Instagram placements (reels, carousels, stories, lives, etc) and channels like blog, email, YouTube, and Podcast.
Builds Anticipation: Keeps your audience excited and engaged. A well-planned launch builds hype and curiosity, making your audience eager for the product release.
Increases Sales: A strategic launch can significantly boost your sales. With a clear, phased approach, you guide potential buyers through the customer journey, addressing their needs and objections, and ultimately driving conversions.
Why Do Most People Launch the Wrong Way?
I still remember my first launch. Even though I spent MONTHS building the product and the offer, the launch was a disaster because I didn’t have a good launch plan. Many content creators make common mistakes that hinder their launch success:
Lack of Preparation: Skipping the pre-launch phases. Without proper preparation, your audience may not be primed or aware of your upcoming product, resulting in lower engagement and sales.
Poor Communication: Not effectively conveying the value of the product. It’s essential to clearly articulate the benefits and unique selling points of your product to your audience.
Inconsistency: Failing to maintain a consistent presence across channels. Consistency in messaging and frequency across all your platforms keeps your audience engaged and informed.
How to sell digital products online: The Four Launch Phases
Ever since, I’ve studied the top online entrepreneurs and how they launch their digital products successfully and I have come to the conclusion that with every launch, there are four key phases that can’t be skipped. Here’s a breakdown of each phase and its importance:
Pre-Pre Launch (60 days before)
Lead Magnet: Launch a lead magnet related to your offer to grow your email list. This can be a free resource that provides value and aligns with your upcoming product.
Promotion: Promote this lead magnet across all channels (social media, blog, email) to maximize the number of leads.
Teasers: Tease your audience about the upcoming offer, creating curiosity and anticipation.
2. Pre-Launch (30 days before)
Build Momentum: Focus on creating content that builds momentum. This includes blog posts, podcasts, and social media content that align with your offer and shift your audience’s mindset.
Address Objections: Use this time to educate your audience, dispelling myths and addressing potential objections they might have about your product.
Waitlist: Continue promoting your lead magnet and consider opening a waitlist to capture the interest of potential buyers early on.
3. Launch (5-10 days)
Sales Content: All content during this period should aim at selling, with clear CTAs directing to purchase. Create transformational content, testimonials, case studies, and solution-aware content to drive conversions.
Live Events: Host live events like webinars or even Instagram lives to engage directly with your audience and encourage sign-ups.
Email Marketing: Implement a robust email marketing strategy, sending emails daily or every other day to maintain momentum and drive urgency.
4. Post-Launch (3-5 days after closing cart)
Onboarding: Onboard new clients and students, ensuring they have a smooth start with your product.
Feedback: Send surveys to your email list, especially to those who didn’t enroll, to gather feedback and improve your next launch.
How to Use AI to Have a More Smooth and Stress-Free Launch
My last two launches have been my most successful ones, but what’s even better is that I’ve used AI in every single step, making these launches smooth and stress-free. Here’s how AI can significantly streamline your launch process:
Content Creation: Use AI tools like ChatGPT to generate blog posts, emails, and social media content quickly and efficiently, ensuring you have a steady stream of high-quality content throughout the launch phases.
Marketing Strategies: AI tools can analyze your audience's behavior and preferences, helping you tailor your marketing efforts more effectively. Use AI to generate variations of your marketing content, A/B test different strategies, and refine your approach based on real-time data. This ensures your marketing campaigns are more targeted, efficient, and impactful, reducing the stress of manual adjustments and trial-and-error methods.
Customer Interaction: Implement AI-driven chatbots to handle inquiries and guide potential buyers through the purchasing process, providing immediate assistance and reducing your workload.
Wrap-Up
A successful launch plan is essential for selling digital products online. By following the pre-pre launch, pre-launch, launch, and post-launch phases, you can ensure a smooth and effective launch. Incorporating AI into your strategy can further alleviate stress and enhance your efficiency.
